WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (January 18, 2019) – West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio has announced the establishment of a Furloughed Federal Employees Policy. Federal employees not receiving a paycheck due to the 2019 partial shutdown of the federal government will be exempt from disconnection of public utilities service for the duration of the shutdown. The City of West Palm Beach will provide payment extensions, payment arrangements, and waive any associated late and disconnection fees for affected employees.
Federal employees who fall into this category will be asked to present a copy of their paycheck showing their gross pay was $0.00 for the pay period to qualify. Employees affected by the shutdown are encouraged to contact the Public Utilities Customer Service Department at (561) 822-1300 as soon as possible to prevent any interruption in service. If service is interrupted, the water will be restored within 24 hours at no charge to the employee.
