VISION ZERO WPB TO HOST SAFE TEEN DRIVING ASSEMBLY ON 10/30
Vision Zero provides a framework for reducing and eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries for motorists, vulnerable pedestrians and bicyclists, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all.
WHO:              City of West Palm Beach, West Palm Beach Police (WPBPD) Palm Beach Lakes High School Seniors, School District of PBC; Health Care District of Palm Beach County; Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
 
WHAT:            To promote safe teen driving, Vision Zero West Palm Beach will bring a panel of safety experts to Palm Beach Lakes High School to address +500 high school seniors about safe driving and the importance of making wise decisions in a car.
 
This event will feature:
  • An anti-distracted driving presentation by WPBPD;
  • Information on driver education by the School District of Palm Beach County;
  • A trauma presentation by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County;
  • Information about the Vision Zero Road Safety Challenge;
  • And Alert Today Alive Tomorrow safe driving tips from the FDOT.
 
In August, City Commissioners unanimously approved the adoption of Vision Zero: Safe Streets for West Palm Beach, an internationally recognized program created in Sweden and adopted by more than 30 U.S. cities. Vision Zero provides a framework for reducing and eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries for motorists, vulnerable pedestrians and bicyclists, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. Vision Zero seeks to accomplish this through engineering better streets, education about road safety, and enhanced enforcement of laws.
