WHAT:
In advance of Hurricane Season, the City of West Palm Beach will hold a hurricane drill for its leadership team on May 1, 2019. To raise awareness of the importance of preparing for hurricane season, Mayor James and Asst. Chief Bloomfield, the City’s Emergency Manager who was deployed to the state EOC for Hurricane Michael in 2018, will be available to speak with reporters in advance of the City’s drill, and there will be b-roll opportunities for videographers and photographers. The drill will take place inside the City’s 27,500-square-foot complex that houses Fire Station 5 and a state-of-the-art emergency operations center. The structure is rated for a Category 5 hurricane and can withstand sustained winds of at least 157 mph.
 
Of note, the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season will begin on June 1, 2019 and end on November 30, 2019.
