CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH MOBILE DATA COLLECTION PROJECT TO KICK OFF CITYWIDE REPAVING EFFORT
The mobile data collection inventory will assist the City Transportation Engineer in managing transportation infrastructure by prioritizing road paving projects to be undertaken beginning in January of 2019.
WHAT:         The City of West Palm Beach will launch a mobile data collection project to inventory the condition of all streets, sidewalks, signs and curb ramps within City limits. City of West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio, Assistant City Administrator Scott Kelly, and Transportation Engineer Uyen Deng will speak about the effort, and the very visual mobile data collection vehicles will be on display in the City Courtyard before traveling the City at normal speeds.

The mobile data collection inventory will assist the City Transportation Engineer in managing transportation infrastructure by prioritizing road paving projects to be undertaken beginning in January of 2019. Using vehicles equipped with digital imagery equipment, Data Transfer Solutions, LLC of Orlando will collect the data by traveling all 259.4 mi. of City roads and alleys on which there are 17,094 City signs and 4,035 curb ramps. Approximately $1.5M is spent annually on City road resurfacing projects. Mobile data collection occurs every five years in the City. The collection phase of the project is expected to take three weeks.
