Life Safety

Life Safety includes several important areas that deal directly with the public.

FIRE INVESTIGATIONS:

The Bureau of Fire Investigations investigates the cause, origin and circumstances of every fire occurring in the city where property has been destroyed or damaged. The investigations begin right after the fire is put out and are headed by the Fire Marshall.

FIRE PREVENTION:

Like all fire departments, West Palm Beach Fire Rescue works to prevent fires before they start. This work includes checking code compliance in all new and existing buildings.

FIRE INSPECTIONS:

Fire inspections help reduce our citizens' risk of loss of life and property, and it is the duty of the Bureau of Fire to periodically inspect or require the inspection of all premises in the City of West Palm Beach. These inspections may be prompted by a permit, occupational license application, complaints or routine required schedules.

It is everyone's responsibility to comply with these orders and the findings of the Bureau in order to maintain an environment that is safe from fire.

To schedule an inspection of new construction or an existing structure,
Call 561-804-4700
Fire inspectors derive their authority from Chapter 11-62 of the city code.

PLAN REVIEW:

The Bureau of Fire Prevention also reviews plans for new construction or remodels for the purpose of enforcing fire regulations. This process is usually performed by the assistant fire Marshall along with supervising of the fire inspectors for proper code enforcement
